“TNLA helped me tremendously with my college education
at Texas A & M. While studying I received two
scholarships from TNLA. With these and other
scholarships I was able to attend college with no extra
funding. My education has enabled me to do what is most
passionate to me, which is working with plants…..TNLA
has made a lasting impression on me. I am excited they
continue to give scholarships, and that TNLA gives students the same
opportunity they gave me.”

HOW IS THE FOUNDATION FUNDED?
The
TNLA Education & Research Foundation is irrevocably
dedicated to and is organized exclusively for charitable
purposes. The Foundation receives contributions and
distributes funds for educational and research purposes.
Funding comes from individuals and companies making
special contributions. No money collected from members
of TNLA automatically goes to the Foundation. It is a
separate corporation with separate budgets. That’s why
donations to the Foundation are so important to the
Green Industry.

WHY
SHOULD YOU SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION?
The
Green Industry is constantly evolving, thus presenting
more opportunities and challenges to those who work in
the industry. Some of the changes that are affecting
the industry and shaping its future are:
-
Decreasing support for agricultural research.
-
Decreasing public support for agricultural
institutions, the source of progress in plant
material, pest management, and maintenance
strategies.
-
Decreasing number of students who perceive
horticulture as a desirable profession.
However, by investing in the future direction of the
Green Industry through the TNLA Education & Research
Foundation we can….
-
Establish a strong tradition of horticulture
philanthropy.
-
Build the available pool of research dollars.
-
Contribute to the education of students.
-
Seek the best and brightest of our students and
encourage them in their studies.
